چکیده
A new method for lowering the error of CD based methods for measuring high enantiomeric excess values is described, which exploits the majority rules effect exhibited by certain helical polymers. A proof of principle experiment was conducted.

6.4. Polarimetry, ORD and CD Spectroscopy
The pharmacopoeias generally apply the determination of the specific optical rotation for the characterisation of the optical purity of drugs administered as the pure enantiomer. The measurements are prescribed at D-line of sodium (589.3 nm) or rarely at some wavelenghts in the visible region of the mercury lamp (365,405,436, 546, 578 nm) and the value of the specific optical rotation should fa...
متن کاملOptical Chirality Enhancement in Twisted Arrays of Plasmonic Nano-rods
An important property of electromagnetic fields, which arises from the interaction between fields and chiral molecules, is called optical chirality. By enhancing this field property, while maintaining constant input power, we are able to increase absorption of circularly polarized light by chiral molecules of a certain handedness. This enhancement is achieved through the use of achiral plasmoni...
متن کاملEstimation of Velocity and Detonation Pressure of some High Energy Compounds using Kamlet Method based on Kistiakowski-Wilson Rules
In the present study, the heat of detonation of high energy compounds with CaHbNcOd formula was obtained according to Kistiakowski-Wilson rules. Comparison of these results with experimental date, group additivity method and Kamlet method shows that the values of heat detonation based on the Kistiakowski-Wilson rules are more accurate. In the following, the values of detonation velocity and de...
متن کاملWell Plate Circular Dichroism Reader for the Rapid Determination of Enantiomeric Excess.
Circular dichroism (CD) spectropolarimeters typically employ one photoelastic modulator. However, spectropolarimeters employing two or even four modulators are more versatile and can be used to subvert common measurement errors arising from imperfectly isotropic samples or sample holders. Small linear anisotropies that can cause large errors in CD measurement can be associated with multi-well s...
متن کاملProton-Decoupled Carbon-13 NMR Spectroscopy in a Lyotropic Chiral Nematic Solvent as an Analytical Tool for the Measurement of the Enantiomeric Excess†
Organic solutions of poly-γ-(benzyl-L-glutamate) (PBLG) generate a sufficient differential ordering effect (DOE) to discriminate enantiomers using proton decoupled carbon-13 NMR in natural abundance. Discrimination between enantiomers is observed through the carbon-13 chemical shift anisotropy (CSA) differences. This method is successfully applied to a large number of chiral molecules including...
